CBA AWARDS/HONORS

Each year, nominees are selected for our Association’s prestigious awards: the Stanley A. Leftwich Award, the Roy G. Brubacher Award, and the Colorado BOCES Association All-State Board Awards. All of these awards will be presented at the BOCES Summer Conference in July. The Awards Committee will meet at the end of May to select the current recipients for the awards. Please take the time to nominate deserving candidates who, over a period of time, contributed significantly to the concept of BOCES.

STANLEY A. LEFTWICH AWARD

Nomination Information

This on-going award was designed to recognize persons other than BOCES administrators who should be cited for “Outstanding Contributions to Cooperative Education in Colorado.”

Past recipients of the award include superintendents, board members, CDE personnel, legislators, and agency administrators who provided visible and positive support to the statewide BOCES effort. Previous recipients may be nominated again for significant contribution since their last recognition.

A resume or vita should accompany the application form along with letters of support or endorsement by a SAC or governing board. Any other documentation you believe may strengthen this nomination is also encouraged.

ROY G. BRUBACHER AWARD

Nomination Information

This on-going award was designed to recognize outstanding BOCES (organizational) leadership for specific contributions within a BOCES for five or more years.

Nominees should be administrators and/or program directors within a BOCES. Candidates should be cited with specifics of leadership within their BOCES and member school districts as well as with the Colorado BOCES Association. Additional criteria include leadership of five or more years. Letters of support and/or examples of leadership at the regional, state, or national levels can be included. Previous recipients may be nominated again for significant contribution since their last recognition.

ALL STATE BOARD AWARDS

Nomination Information

This on-going award category was created by the Colorado BOCES Association in 1994-95. It is designed to recognize five school district/BOCES Board Members per year, with an emphasis on sustained contribution both to districts and to their respective BOCES. Nominees should first be recognized for dedicated service to their respective local boards of education. Secondly, nominees should be recognized for providing leadership, advocacy, and support for BOCES programs. Evidence of the nominee’s support for cooperation among multiple districts, and a collaborative approach to problem solving will enhance the nomination. To be eligible for nomination, board members should have served in a BOCES leadership capacity for four or more years. While qualifying contributions as seen by their constituency is noteworthy, preference will be given to current members, and to those not previously recognized.
